The Gist (Minus Spoilers)
It’s sci-fi, and it’s funny. That’s a recipe for entertainment in my book. There are two young guys who stumble upon a weird substance that’s getting passed around as drugs. It starts off as a totally normal movie and just gets weirder from there. There were definitely some real ‘laugh out loud’ moments.
What I Liked
Not only was it really funny, but I really got pulled into the story. Actually, I heard about this film some time back (or maybe it was the book), but forgot to watch for it on Netflix. It came up on the new release section, and I had no idea what it was about.
Unfortunately, after reading this review and probably others, you’ve got some idea of what the movie is about. Part of the fun for me was knowing absolutely nothing about it, but being constantly surprised by some of the weird stuff that was happening.
Getting back to the story, it’s definitely something they could make a series out of, which would probably be good for another movie or two but they would not be able to top the first one. It would probably be better as a TV series. I wouldn’t watch the TV series because TV sucks.
What I Didn’t Like
Some of the humor was a bit campy and nothing was ever explained about the girl with the missing arm.
When to Watch
Great as a late night comedy with your girlfriend or an evening with a couple of friends and some popcorn. I, of course, watched it by myself, but if I had friends, I’m sure they would enjoy it too.
