12VPN was the first VPN service that I really enjoyed using, and it was my go-to VPN while living in China for several years. They have an extremely cheap service, with all the standard features, and a customer service team that goes above and beyond to help their customers.
Protocols: PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, SSL/OpenVPN, L2TP, Cisco/IPSec, IKEv2
- Mac OSX
- iOS (iPhone, iPod and iPad)
- Symbian S60
- Windows Phone
- Free server switching
- Japanese Servers
- Free VPN Software/Apps
- Multiple connections on one account
- Mobile only plan
- Very inexpensive
For me, the advantage of using these guys was always that they worked well in China, and from talking to their team, I learned that they also operate in other VPN-blocked zones like certain countries in the Middle East.
They have made a lot of changes recently, coming out with a mobile only plan that will save you bit $$ (less than $3/month). All of their other plans also come with unlimited data, and can be used on multiple connections.
12VPN also has a variety of custom VPN setups. These will only appeal to certain users with special requirements. This is reflected in the fact that they were one of the first VPN services to come out with a VPN for Windows Phone and Blackberry. There aren’t a lot of Windows/Blackberry users out there anymore, but they do exist! And for you guys, 12VPN has you covered like NO OTHER VPN SERVICE does.
Excellent Customer Service
Customer service gets 10/10 stars if that is even a rating system people use. While they don’t have live chat available, they are very quick with their email responses, and the friendliest out of any VPN customer service team I’ve ever dealt with. I have reviewed quite a few VPN services for Netflix Outside The USA, and 12VPN is the best, by far.
Some may not be impressed by 12VPNs simple website design, or no frills attitude. However, I find it refreshing that I didn’t have to deal with sorting through a bunch of complicated information to get my VPN set up.
Use a VPN on non-VPN Compatible Devices
Using 12VPNs SmartDNS you can actually use a VPN on devices that are not usually compatible with VPNs. Not getting into the technical details of it, you can use this feature to connect smart TVs and access US-Only content without any slow-down from the VPN connection. The disadvantage is that it doesn’t come with all the security features of a VPN connection and some websites may not work with it. Try it and see if it works for you.
Another option is to go with their VPN.tv service which is an extension for the Google Chrome browser. This also means you don’t need to hassle with even connecting to the VPN because it connects every time you start Chrome.

In a nutshell, this is a service that always ranks in my top rated VPN companies because they offer simple, effective ways to connect your devices to VPNs. Whether it’s for privacy, security, or just watching some movies online, you can’t go wrong with 12VPN.
